Excitement mounting

" Relay writing spin around the globe "
I was excited and bid adios to my family.
I had been feeling bored and neglected. My husband working late every night. My two daughters were off to college , leaving me feeling I needed something more in my life.
It was like something or someone was whispering in my ear, " Go south, get out of this cold climate for a few days."
I pulled into a service station to fill up, and was surprised when this tall good looking man approached, asking, " Are you driving south? " I responded by saying, " Yes I am. " He then asked if he could hitch a ride. I was a little apprehensive but thought the company would be nice, plus he was soo good looking.
We introduced ourselves. He told me his name was Tom. I was thinking as i drove along, " I bet he wouldn't be working late every night...Boy he is handsome!
We had traveled around six hours. The sun was shining brightly. I was in heaven. About that time, Tom very calmly told me that he lived in the next little town just off the interstate. I was totally surprised. He then said to take this exit, he lived on seventh street.
I pulled up in front of this lovely little white cottage. He reached over and honked the horn, to my surprise out came a beautiful young woman and three little girls, yelling Daddy, Daddy. He put his arms around her. The girls were wrapped around his legs. He said, " Ruby meet my wife and daughters." When i finally found my voice, I said, " Hello, so happy to meet you."
They all looked so happy, all of a sudden, I was overwhelmed with gladness, knowing I had helped return him to his family.
Funny how events can happen to change attitudes from boredom to thankfulness. All I could think about was turning my car around and heading north.
Excitement mounting at the prospect of going home.

Hello Always. If I was going to link a few hubs to this one first I would copy the link at the top of the page on each hub to a word document. Then go to edit this hub. Up at the right are the capsules location. Click on lick. I am pretty sure you can copy and paste all the addresses into one capsule.
Your wings are carrying you higher and higher into the creative writing atmosphere.
I can so easily see this as true. It is too bad we cannot pick up hitchhikers anymore (although I do sometimes). Just to think of what we could learn makes me feel excited. Great story always exploring.
This relay writing spin, is so clever!
Well done Ruby - brilliant!
A big vote up, best wishes Lesley
Glad that this wasn't a true story Ruby as I was going to tell you that you should be careful who you pick up these days :) Enjoyed the story.
Great poem Ruby with a great lesson at the end. Thank you for sharing.
You have my votes Ruby. Sometimes it takes us a little nudge to realize what he have and I am glad you were able to see that. I like to think that God shows us things in the weirdest ways and weirdest places, and yet, it all fits in perfect place.
Great story, kept my interest from beginning to finish too. I am glad you like writing fiction because I loved reading this too. Great hub!
Ruby, you have such an imagination. I like to read between the lines in all stories, which makes them have underlying meanings to all of us. Great writing. You should "explore" more of this.
