A poem, Time span almost forgotten
64The good times
Good times
I was busy doing my spring cleaning when suddenly my mind returned to yesteryear
A time span almost forgotten. The joy of my first true love comes rushing back like an out of control wild brush fire
The happy, lazy day's of summer. The walks on Current River Beach. The week-end camping. The good times fueled by desire
The drive-in movie, arms wrapped tightly, tears flowing when Nicholson died in Cucook's nest
Playing tennis, watching football, square dancing with our best friends, western boots and hats. Good times that was simply the very best
What a fun-filled life we had
Our baby boy so sweet
Reminds me to never again feel bitter and sad
The good times really outweighed any bad
As the old ' Ski nose ' would certainly have said, " Thank's for the memories " (RIP)
Post note...This is the first time I have been able to think about my past life with a smile on my face.

I am so glad that you can now think about your past with a smile on your lips--beautiful work Ruby!
Blast from the past and it could bring a smile on your face...priceless!
Love this! Very uplifting Ruby. Voted up.
AE, it is so special that you have shared those moments of reflection here in such a positive way. And wow, it sounds like those times were awesome. I think bad situtions sometimes cloud a whole lot of good stuff, just like you say:
"Reminds me to never again feel bitter and sad
The good times really outweighed any bad"
A very special poem with a very important message. My votes to you, AE.
Hello Always, this was charming on many levels. We share the memories of our past, and still keep looking forward to our futures. Drive-In Movies, and walking arm in arm with our 'Flame', sure brings back some memories. Thanks for such a great Hub.
AWESOME MEMORIES. How many times I have a thought of past memories. I can relate. Great Hub. I remember the drive in movies.. so much fun,, the world doesn't know what they are missing.

I love this poem. Beautiful as usual. Thank you very much for writing and I am glad to know this from you. Have a nice day, Ruby! God bless you...
Love and peace
I thoroughly enjoyed this poem as it relates to the poem I just wrote called, "The Place Where I Grew Up". I reacted every time I pulled things out of the house that reminded me of my past. I had a hard time parting with things as well. I can see, you had a lot of favorites as well. I look forward to reading more of your hubs.
Ruby, this is so good. I am glad that you can now remember the good times and see that they should not be forgotten just because you are not together anymore. Beautiful poem.
Great sweet poem for your memories, with a laugh.
Some memories are good and some are unhappy ones. You had happy memories which are always so good.
Voted up and awesome, Joyce.
Hello Always, here is a toast to you living to be a hundred, maybe more. Yes, you are not alone. There should be a lost and found somewhere. I think that could be another song title.
I am glad that you can look back at your past with a smile on your face...this is an awesome poetry, talking so much about time as a great healer, though the scars may remain...
We all are followed by the time we cherish so much. Your poem is beautiful and very soothing.
Hello Ruby, the memories of sad, difficult and hard times can be so dominate, it's not easy remembering good, happy times although they are there...
Remembering and smiling is a good, good feeling!
Much love, Lesley
Such a truly beautiful hub Ruby;so touching also.
Take care and enjoy your day.
Eddy.
Even in a barren desert there blooms a wild flower bravely sharing her beauty with a harsh world.
and so too are our memories of times past, that we can wish forgotten, but even in our own harsh reality there is always a moment of beauty and happiness that cannot be denied.
I am so glad that the thoughts of these moments now bring a smile instead of pain.
Voting this one up :)
Lovely memories. I have chosen to remember only the beauty in the past and ignore the other ones. I froze them in ice so they could not live anymore and nurtured the sweet memories. Sounds like you did the same in this poem.
Well done~
just loved this, thank you

Talking about the good old days , great work "AE." Only this day I read and commented on a different but similar topic yesteryear.
The present it there to correct,if there were ant errors but the good times are our blessed memories. We keep those.
Bless!
Wow, Just proves that you are an over-comer. I believe the more we shun the negative and focus on the positive the more our lives are become meaningful. Have a blessed day. Peace.
Without further ado.. Good times and memories, they are priceless.... You definitely have my votes on this one.. lol!.. Don't you always do..
Hello AE, very nice short story. I am a Jack Nicholson fan and One Flew Over is my favorite movie of all time. Sure wish the time would come when I can smile looking back at the memoirs of my life. I'll have to really dig hard to find those few treasures. Thank you for sharing, enjoyed reading! Art
lol!... You are so much fun.. I bet everyone around you has hurts their cheeks from too much smiling... You are the definition of joy and laughter.. (:-)
This is the first time I have read anything from you and boy have I missed the boat! I voted you up and awesome. It is amazing how much we appreciate good memories the older we get. Our best friends...who are now our older friends (along with us, I might add) laugh hysterically when we think what the four of us did together in our younger years. Life truly is a great journey if we allow it to be.
Ruby , we writers of hubpages take one small pleasant memory at a time out of the memory closet , polish it to a bright finish until it shines like a new toy , place it on the table before us and then write about it , no matter how few there might be . We nurture them into being! And we do that well! At least you do! Be well my constant friend!....:-}
You have no Idea.. How much I read your poem.. There is not a day that I come to Hub that I don't atleast read one of your poem.. Your poems are so refreshing... Though you and some few others Hubbers.. lol!! You are the number one... (smiles)

Up, awesome, and beautiful Ruby. AE, this was a fun poem. It is always good to recall the past. It is great to feel those emotions again, the smells, the feelings, ect. As long as we don't live there, we will be alright. Another great poem my poetic friend. Have a great weekend.
